William J. Hartman is a United States Army lieutenant general who has served as the acting commander of United States Cyber Command, director of the National Security Agency, and chief of the Central Security Service since 3 April 2025, and as the deputy commander of the United States Cyber Command since 16 January 2024. He previously served as the commander of the Cyber National Mission Force from August 2019 to January 2024.

In May 2023, Hartman was nominated for promotion to lieutenant general with assignment as the deputy commander of United States Cyber Command.

On 3 April 2025, Timothy D. Haugh, the director of the National Security Agency, was removed from his position. Hartman was named as acting director.
