NCIS: New Orleans is an American police procedural television series created by Gary Glasberg and starring Scott Bakula, Rob Kerkovich and CCH Pounder. It is the second spin-off of NCIS, and the third series in the NCIS franchise. The series premiered on CBS on September 23, 2014, and ran for a total of seven seasons until May 23, 2021. It centers on a fictional team of Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) agents stationed out of New Orleans, Louisiana.
After a purposed spin-off of NCIS: Los Angeles was passed over, an official second spin-off of NCIS was announced in late 2013. Like Los Angeles, the series was introduced via two-part back-door pilot episodes in season eleven of NCIS. The cast originally consisted of Lucas Black and Zoe McLellan, both of whom left in season two (McLellan) and season six (Black) respectively. Daryl "Chill" Mitchell, Shalita Grant, Vanessa Ferlito, Necar Zadegan, Charles Michael Davis and Chelsea Field also starred in the main cast in later seasons.
