Meeting of European Communist Youth Organizations

The Meeting, of European Communist Youth Organizations (MECYO) is an annual conference of communist-oriented youth associations from across Europe. It was established to enhance the exchange of experiences between these organizations and to develop a shared political assessment and joint actions in certain areas.

At the conclusion of each meeting, the participating youth organizations publish a joint political declaration. For example, in 2006, during the 5th MECYO meeting in Prague, the congress condemned the ban of the Communist Youth Union of Bohemia and Moravia (KSM).

In 2020, on the 103rd anniversary of the October Revolution, the MECYO organized an online meeting in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The event, titled “Youth in Survival Against Pandemic and Capitalism: Socialism or Barbarism”, brought together youth organizations from across Europe to discuss the challenges faced by young people during the pandemic. The meeting served as a platform for exchanging strategies and insights into how the youth movements have navigated social and political struggle caused by the global health crisis.
