Released on June 3, 2008, the album features 23 songs with music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and performed by the cast members. The album was one of the best-selling cast albums in the 2000s, sold around 500,000 copies and certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. It won the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, the following year.
