The blue jewel-babbler (Ptilorrhoa caerulescens) is a species of bird in the family Cinclosomatidae. It is found in New Guinea. In Wampar, spoken among the people who live in Markham Valley of New Guinea, it is referred to as the birisis. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests—typically primary rather than secondary forests.
