So far during 2025, the United Kingdom has recorded the highest area of land affected by wildfires since records began in 2012. As of 4 June, over 35,511 ha (87,750 acres; 137.11 sq mi; 355.11 km2) has been burnt, surpassing the previous annual record set in 2019 by more than 2,000 ha (4,900 acres); it has also had the highest number of fires larger than 30 ha (74 acres) at 165, an increase of 17 from the previous record set in 2022.
