Chris Evert Lloyd defeated Hana Mandlíková in the final, 6–2, 6–2 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 1981 Wimbledon Championships. It was her third Wimbledon singles title and her twelfth major singles title, surpassing Margaret Court's Open Era record. Evert did not lose a set during the tournament.
Evonne Goolagong Cawley was the reigning champion, but did not compete due to pregnancy.
